Australian canoeing would like to congratulate Hannah Davis on conquering Mount Kilimanjaro earlier this month.

The 2008 K4 500 Olympic bronze medallist replaced her kayak with hiking boots to participate in the Kilimanjaro Club for Kids 2014.

The event raised money for UNICEF’s Mobile Health Nutrition Teams (MHNT), which target places where no other access to healthcare is available.

Davis exceeded her target of raising $10,000 by nearly three thousand dollars!

“It was an incredible experience-not only was it physically challenging but also mentally and physiologically,” Davis said.

“We hiked up the mountain for five days reaching base camp after day four. We left for Summit at 11pm later that day, and hiked throughout the night in temperatures that reached -25 with wind chill, reaching the top for sunrise which was truly breathtaking.”

“All in all, it was an incredible, life changing experience and I am so pleased I was able to raise so many vital funds for UNICEF, with the incredible support of those around me.”
