Long-time PaddleNSW Board Director and Chair of the PNSW Education and Training Committee, Lynn Parker, was suitably recognised for her outstanding contribution to paddling last Friday, 16 May.

Lynn received a certificate of congratulations for her marvellous service as a Volunteer Administrator. The 2014 Community Sports Volunteer Awards were held at Parliament House. NSW Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres congratulated all the volunteers on their contributions to a huge range of community sport.

“Volunteers are essential to creating cohesive communities which experience emotional as well as physical wellbeing through the connectedness that sport and recreation provides,” Mr Ayres said. “We have almost 400,000 volunteers contributing to sport in NSW as coaches, committee members, fundraisers, referees, grounds keepers, driving teams to fixtures, overseeing kits, equipment and sausage sizzles. Many multi-task across these essential roles."

Lynn was recognised specifically for the tremendous work she has coordinated on the Waterways Guide - see www.waterwaysguide.org.au - and overseeing the very many education and training courses conducted by PaddleNSW each year.

Congratulations Lynn - the accolade is thoroughly deserving.
