Ken Wallace, Naomi Flood, Murray Stewart and Jacob Clear have been the standout performers on the opening morning of the first ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Milan, Italy.

Wallace picked up where he left off last season, cruising through to the coveted K1 1000 A final.

The 2013 World Championship silver medalist won his heat and semifinal.

Wallace paced himself perfectly in the semifinal, passing the halfway mark in third position before increasing his stroke rate in the second half of the race to win in 3:44.87.

Joining him in the final will be Spanish paddler Francisc Cubelos Sanchez who finished 0.13 seconds behind Wallace.

Queensland teenager Jordan Wood got his first taste of racing an Olympic K1 distance at a World Cup finishing fifth in his semifinal.

London K4 gold medalist Murray Stewart and Jacob Clear announced themselves as the ones to beat in the K2 1000.

The experienced duo produced the fastest heat time of 3:21.67 to finish 4.13 seconds ahead of Slovenian pair Alan Apollonio and Simon Blazevic.

Flood was equally as impressive in the K1W 500 event.

The Manly product finished second behind Austrian Yvonne Schuring to secure a place in the A final.

Schuring won the semifinal in 1:58.65, 0.87 seconds ahead of Flood. German Franziska Weber was third fastest in 1:59.57.

Western Australian Jaime Roberts made her World Cup debut today but unfortunately was unable to join Flood in the final, finishing eighth in her semifinal.

Bernadette Wallace advanced to the women’s K1 1000 A final following a dominant performance in her semifinal.

The 24 year old powered home over the closing stages to win her semi in 4:14.32, 1.43 seconds ahead of Hungarian Ramona Farksadi and Caihong Xu of China.

Recently formed K2 combination Alyce Burnett from the Sunshine Coast and South Australian Cat McArthur finished seventh in the K2 500 semis.
