Outdoor Council of Australia

OCA evolved out of the National Outdoor Recreation Leadership Development (NORLD) project which aimed to develop portable and easily recognised qualifications for leaders and instructors in the Outdoor Industry.

The role of the Council is to represent to the community, industries and all levels of government, the views and needs of outdoor educators, leaders and guides as well as organisations that support leadership or are otherwise involved in the training of outdoor educators, leaders and guides via their state and national peak bodies.

OCA also works closely with ITAB and has responsibility for the maintenance of industry standards across the broad range of industry training providers, including community organisations, volunteer groups, universities and 'in-house' trainers.
