Tasmanian State Championships Friday 7th to Sunday 9th December

Results and news from the Tasmanian Championships

Tasmanian Institute of Sport canoeist Dan Hall maintained his position as a premier rapid sprinter, ahead of TIS team mates Ben Maynard and Matthew French. In the classic race Matthew French edged out Dan Hall , Ben Maynard was third, Tom Bedford from Great Lakes Canoe Club fourth and Stewart Bennett fifth , all separated by less than ten seconds.

Anne Cairns from New Zealand was first in the rapid sprints and classic ahead of Carol Hurst from Derwent Canoe club and Ruby Hodgetts from Tasmanian Canoe Club .

In the Slalom Warwick Draper was well clear of the field ahead of Josh Kippin from WA and Tasmanian Ben Maynard.

All places in C1 were taken by junior Western Sydney Academy of Sport paddlers Ian Borrows, Mark Rudd and Reilly Edwards.

Sarah Grant from Melbourne Canoe Club won the women’s slalom kayak ahead of Alison Borrows WSAS and Elena Etheridge PVC

C2 was a father and son affair for the first two places with Derwent paddlers Peter and Andrew Eckhardt ahead of Chris and Will Schmidt. Ben Jones and Ian Borrows from Penrith came in third.
