2006

Australian Canoeing annually conducts a series of national flatwater regattas. These may or may not be selection regattas for the Australian team, but all are run under ICF/AC FTC racing rules with qualified technical officials and a team of dedicated volunteers. This year included some key changes to the regattas, including the use of an online entry and payment system. Additionally, the national championships included two innovative and very successful trial races: a single boat handicap race over 500m (open to all ages, with canoes and kayaks both competing), and an invitational celebrity K4 challenge over 200m.

The extremely successful 2006 season was as follows:

  • Grand Prix 1 - Nagambie, Victoria: January 13-15 2006
  • Grand Prix 2 - Penrith, NSW: February 17-19 2006
  • 2006 EnergyAustralia Flatwater Canoe/Kayak Australian Championships - Penrith, NSW: March 8-12 2006
