Racing Begins for Junior Wildwater Team in Italy

Simon Hickox, Friday, 29 July 2005

After 10 days in Mezzanna the team is ready for its first day of racing. As today marks the first day of the 2005 Junior World Wildwater Canoe/Kayak Championships - River Noce Italy.......

It is uplifting to see European teams still running the course perfecting lines we had down packed 4 days ago. Bedford has finnaly gotten over he pre race stress and Missons shoulder (sore from the shallow river and numerous rock strikes) is back 100%.

The time taken to learn and perfect the course and then have a solid taper to peak this weekend I believe as team coach puts us in a very strong position for success.

Whilst today is only Non-stop practice and with our team only running at 70% of maximum effort, it gives the team the perfect practice run for World Championships tommorrow.

Wish these boys luck!
