David Foureur and Anna Wood appointed to Sprint Program.
After a thorough debrief and review of the London 2012 campaign, AC has revised its national coaching structure replacing the National Head Coach position with a National Women's Head Coach and National Men's Head Coach model sitting underneath the National Performance Director.
The change in the national structure is designed to sharpen our focus into specific performance streams or pods that will enhance AC's ability to contribute to Australia's gold medal tally in Rio 2016 under the recently announced Winning Edge initiative of the Australian Sports Commission and AIS.
Jimmy Owens has been appointed as the National Men's Head Coach with a specific priority to lead the men's 1000m program to further success in Rio 2016.
AC has completed a formal recruitment process and appointed David Foureur as National Women's Head Coach to provide new leadership and direction to the national women's program through to Rio.
Foureur is currently the AC National Elite Development Manager based at SASI in Adelaide and will continue to oversee the NEDP program through a transition period through to June 2013, including a review of the NEDP and National Athlete Pathway which will explore areas to improve talent identification and implement athlete pathway talent development initiatives.
Anna Wood has also been contracted as a full time Women's National Performance Coach. Anna's role is to add impetus to the women's program through technical support to the Women's Head Coach, coaching delivery at national camps, in the Daily Training Environment (DTE) at the NCE on the Gold Coast and targeted coaching support to athletes and coaches at camps and throughout the national network.
Additional national coaching roles will be formalised in early 2013 including additional support of the men's national 1000m program. A new role will be established in the form of a national sprint coach to lead the growth and development of our racing potential in the 200m events and to underpin the "need for speed" across the board.
