Officiating Courses to be run at Nationals

Australia Canoeing will be offering Level 1 and Level 2 Officiating and Judging Course to be held from 1pm on the 7th January. All parents and paddlers who attend regular races (Yarra Series, Club Races, State School Competition etc) are encouraged to attend these Courses.

Level 1

The course enables those with qualification to officiate at the Australian Nationals and Australian Team selection events.; including Australian Open and Oceania events.

The course involves a three hour interactive workshop that covers:

  • The International Canoe Slalom rules
  • Working as part of a officiating team
  • Application of the rules in competition
  • Written & Practical assessment.

Level 2

The Level 2 course is for those holding Level 1 qualification and have 2 to 3 years experience of officiating. Holding a Level 2 qualification together with experience at officiating at all levels of competitions enables nomination to sit the International Canoe Slalom Judging exam and thus eligibility to officiate at the international level.

The course involves a three hour interactive workshop that covers:

  • Revision and update to changes in the International Canoe Slalom rules
  • Roles and responsibilities of Chief Officials
  • Requirements for organising and running competitions including ICF approved Competition
  • Written & Practical assessment.
