Minister for Sport Senator Kate Lundy and the Minister for the Status of Women Julie Collins announced the opening of the 2012-13 grant round on International Women’s Day to highlight the contribution of women in sport. Applications will close at midnight on Friday 27 April 2012. To apply for a grant or scholarship, applicants must be supported by a sporting organisation affiliated with a national sporting organisation recognised by the ASC.
Under the Sport Leadership Grants and Scholarships for Women program grants of up to $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organisations are available to assist women to undertake accredited sport leadership training in the areas of coaching, officiating, governance, administration and management, and communications, media and marketing. Sport leadership pathway scholarships of up to $10,000 per annum for three years are also available.

The Local Sporting Champions program currently provides financial support for young sportsmen and women participating in state or national level sporting championships and national school sport championships.
Commencing 1 March 2012 the eligibility criteria for Local Sporting Champions will be enhanced to allow more sportsmen and women to apply. Competitions eligible for funding under the Local Sporting Champions program will be expanded to include:
Grants will continue to be $500 for individuals and $3000 for teams (including international competitions). Applicants are eligible to receive one grant (individual grant or as a member of a team grant) per allocation year (1 March - 28 February).
