When/Where/Why did you begin the sport?
Started in 2003, joined Nerang River Canoe Club on the Gold Coast. Joined as I was just finishing up playing volleyball and needed a sport to keep me fit that I could do sitting down
Greatest Sporting achievement?
Representing Australia at Sydney Paralympic Games in volleyball, representing Australia at World canoe/kayak Championships in Szeged 2011
What are your future goals?
Paddle faster and represent Australia again, finish in top 3 in the world
Greatest Influence on your career?
In kayaking it would be my friend Ian Frost who taught me to paddle and then paddled a K2 with me for a number of seasons before I could paddle a single
What keeps you busy outside of the sport?
Work, I teach computer studies, and science.
Who inspires you?
People who do great things despite the odds against them. Also, people who tell me that I can't do something because of my disability, they inspire me to prove them wrong.
Have you had any success in other sports?
Yes, I was Australian bench press champion in my weight class in 1996. I represented (and occasionally captained) the Australian men's sitting volleyball team between 1997 and 2006. I also coached the Australian women' s sitting volleyball team from 2005-2007.
Favorite Australian personality?
I remember hearing a voice cheering for me when I was competing in bench press in Beijing in 1994. It said. "C'mon Glenn lift that bloody thing.". When I had lifted it I realized that the person cheering for me was Dawn Fraser. I guess that makes her my favorite.
